Overview of how to play Croquet
See also: History of Croquet
There are a number of different ways to play this tactical
game, however the most popular is Association Croquet. Strictly
speaking, the game is played by two players (or teams) each
with two balls.
The objective is to be the first to hit
the finishing post with both balls, however this can only
be achieved once you knocked you balls through all the hoops
in a specific order.
The game can be very tactical, however,
as there are plenty of opportunities to gain extra shots
and make life more difficult for your opponents.
A standard set comes with four mallets and four balls, and
you may vary the game - for example, 4 players can play
independently with 1 ball each. All our sets come, of
course, with with full play instructions.
Few people today have a championship-size croquet lawn (35 x 28 yards). Keeping to the 5 : 4 proportions is desirable but not critical, as croquet can be played practically anywhere. There are croquet clubs all over the world, with tens of thousands of club members, and literally millions of back garden enthusiasts.
